OFFICE

NURSING CARE
The Northeast Louisiana War Veterans Home is a 156 bed health facility managed by the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs. The facility provides 156 nursing care beds. Funding is provided through Federal, State, and self-generated revenue. The Home sits on a picturesque 20 acre pecan grove along the banks of Bayou DeSiard just north of Monroe, Lousiana.

CHAPEL
A chapel, located inside near the main entrance, is available for various denominational worship services. Many members of the local clergy volunteer to perform these services on a regular basis.

DINING FACILITY
Dietary services are provided by a full-time registered dietitian, a staff of cooks, and food service workers. These employees serve 3 well balanced nutritious meals daily, a light snacks, and special diets as ordered by staff physicians.


ROOMS
All rooms consist of 2 beds per room. These rooms can be made up as shown here to provide a more settling atmosphere for the resident.

BARBER/BEAUTY SHOP
Hair care services are provided in a modern shop on the premises by a professional barber. These same services are provided to medically incapacitated residents in their rooms.

PHARMACY
A pharmacy staffed by a full-time registered pharmacist is located in the facility. Sufficient drugs and medication are kept in the pharmacy to meeet the needs of every resident. VA formulary medications are provided at no charge to the residents.

LAUNDRY
Laundry and housekeeping service is available daily to residents. Additionally, shopping trips to various locations in the area are planned regularly.

LIBRARY
A library well stocked with magazines, books and newspapers offers a relaxed atmosphere.

SOCIAL SERVICES
A well-trained and knowledgeable social services staff serves as the residents' care managers, assists in the development of individualized treatment plans, and serves as the primary contact betweeen residents and their families.

THERAPEUTIC RECREATION
A variety of therapeutic recreational activities are available to all residents under the guidance of our recreational therapy staff. Activities include woodworking, ceramics, and gardening, among others.

DIVERSIONAL ACTIVITIES
Parties and entertainment are provided by service organizations and other groups on a regular basis. Other activities include television, talent contests and table games. Residents are also encouraged to participate in regularly scheduled recreational field trips.


ACCOUNTING OFFICE
The accounting office maintains the resident account fund and is responsible for the collection of each resident's monthly care and maintenance fee. This office is open Monday - Friday to assist residents with their financial transactions.

REHABILITATION THERAPY
Physical, occupational, and speech therapy are available as prescribed by staff physicians.
TRANSPORTATION
The Home's vehicle fleet provides essential coordinated transportation support for residents, including outside medical appointments and treatment regimens.
